You can stop by during open hours (no appointment needed) for tastes of local wines and impromptu educational conversations about the wine area around Salem, Oregon. $20/mini lesson.

Join us to hear local winemakers Rachel Rose of Bryn Mawr and David Patte of Sun Break Wines tell their stories! Taste some wine and ask some questions!
Arrive between 6:00 and 6:30 to mingle and snack on a small charcuterie while taking the opportunity to support Studio Vino. Winemaker Panel and Chat 7:00 - 8:00.

If you work in our local tasting rooms, if you’re studying for your WSET, Sommelier, Master of Wine, or if you just want to get better at picking out the key characteristics of wine, we are hosting a blind tasting group to help you hone your wine identification skills. The first Tuesday of each month, sign up to join a community of like-minded folks to taste and discuss!

We only pour wines from the vineyards in the area around Salem in our educational sessions!
The Willamette Valley has 11 smaller growing areas nested within the larger valley. The newest nested AVA is Mt. Pisgah, Polk County out near Independence which was established in 2022.
The first vineyards were planted in the mid 1960s.
Oregon Wine History Archive at Linfield UniversityThis area has unique soils that differentiate it from the vineyards in other parts of the Willamette Valley.
American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) are created as geographical growing areas based on the characteristics (climate, soil, elevation, etc.) in a region.
Stop by Studio Vino to learn more about the geography, vineyards, and wines from right around Salem.
Tastings and classes
Stop by Studio Vino Wine Hub in downtown Salem during drop-in hours for impromptu lessons using local wines to learn about the grape varieties and history of the Willamette Valley AVA. Reservations not needed.
